Mahatma ji felt pity on seeing the injured kitten and brought him to the ashram with him.
Within a few days the child became healthy… and started doing mischief… sometimes he would climb a tree and sometimes on Mahatma ji’s shoulder.
Seeing the disturbance arising, Mahatma ji said to the disciples, “Whenever I meditate, tie the kitten to the tree.”
Time passed, one day Mahatma ji passed away. A new Mahant was elected.
This Mahant also tied the cat to the tree before meditating like his Guru.
Then one day a big problem arose when that cat also died.
Mahatma ji said, “Soon a cat should be brought and tied… Then only I will be able to sit on meditation…. This is the tradition of our sect… It should not be broken at any cost…”
Don’t know how many Mahatma’s have come and gone since then… But to meditate, a cat is definitely tied.
